When Covid-19 first struck, the UK’s leading independent healthcare provider was swift to flag its support to fight the pandemic.
In March 2020, as Boris Johnson announced the first national lockdown, our client entered into a formal agreement to put its considerable resources, including 50 private hospitals and 6,500 specialist consultants, at the service of the NHS.
This meant that NHS doctors could treat patients across public and private hospitals – a fantastic outcome for the battle against Covid, but a logistical and compliance nightmare. Without a centralised system, it would be impossible to have clear visibility of all NHS doctors temporarily registered across private hospitals, posing operational and safety risks for both hospital staff and patients.
The group’s registration systems relied on spreadsheets, which would be unmanageable across such a big network. An urgent solution was needed, one that was so intuitive it could be used by anybody regardless of their IT skill level, and one that would require no training as there simply wasn’t time. In addition, the leading healthcare group, wanted to ensure they didn’t add to the administrative burden for their clinical staff.
The Power of Partnership:
Strong Relationships – Having previously worked successfully together, the healthcare group and Cielo Costa drew on their combined expertise to deliver an extraordinary solution in extraordinary circumstances.
Above & Beyond – The team worked around the clock to create a ready-to-go proof of concept in an incredible 48 hours, using the Microsoft Power Platform – in particular Power Apps, Power Automate and SharePoint. Additional enhancements to add more features to the solution were made within three to four days, with no downtime.
Simplicity – The result was a solution which exceeded initial objectives: access to a secure, centralised dataset via an easy-to-use, intuitive interface that required no user training, just minimal guidance.
Compliance – The app vastly improved regulatory compliance; the audit pass rate skyrocketed to more than 88% from a previous pass rate of 18%.
ROI – Calculated ROI in four months was a staggering 224%, based on the time saving of more than 500 work hours for clinical staff.
