Our client, a leading health care group, had a weighty consultant reviews process in place, that whilst essential to ensuring a safe and progressive environment for all, was heavily labour intensive.
Maintaining visibility over the whole process can be extremely difficult, especially in large operations. Healthcare providers must keep track of which executives are responsible for reviewing which consultants; whether reviews have been carried out satisfactorily to confirm consultants are entitled to retain their practicing privileges; which reviews are pending; and whether any have been overlooked or delayed. In a worst case scenario, a poorly designed or out-of-date system can endanger patient safety and lead to costly malpractice cases.
When the organisation, decided to improve transparency across their biennial review process, they turned to us as a long-term partner with a proven track record developing innovative health tech solutions.

A quality user experience:
Simple interface – The interface had to make it easy for busy executive directors to note at a glance the status of all consultants under their jurisdiction, making a burdensome task as straight-forward and efficient as possible.
Database Integration – Cielo Costa used Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate and SharePoint to build a platform that combines a quality user experience and clever back-end integration with the healthcare group’s centralised master database.
Key Functionality – When an executive director logs in, they are greeted with an easily navigable interface displaying the details of all consultants they are responsible for, sorted according to review status (pending, in process, overdue, or completed). Once they finish writing a review, it is emailed to the relevant consultant, who can approve or reject the report at the click of a button. If rejected, the executive director is alerted and the review returns to the draft stage for re-assessment; if approved, it is signed off. The platform also enables the executive director to assign delegates to create and populate draft reviews, an important function in large hospitals especially.
Improved Management – Management now has hands-on access to critical business insights related to the consultants at each of their clinical sites, with a much higher level of visibility and security across the entire hospital network. The digital app also cuts down on unnecessary admin work, saving time and stress for busy executives.
